The elimination race is a speed race that takes place on Saturday, April 24 at the Dell Diamond. Competitors will complete a looped course in the Dell Diamond Parking Lot and the last person to cross the finish line on each lap will be eliminated. NEW for 2009, the course doesn't loop the baseball field allowing spectators to watch the competitors through the entire leg of the course. If speed is your forte, this is the competition for you.

Course

The course is a smooth, closed multiple looped course with both start and finish in Old Settlers Park. The course is swept the morning of the event to eliminate gravel and any obstacles. City of Round Rock staff and police maintain the course throughout the race for safety.

Laps

The half marathon participants will loop the course three times and full marathoners will loop the course six times. On the final lap, skaters will cross the finish line through the finishing chute.

Safety & Rules

Helmets and wrist guards are mandatory. Knee and elbow pads are recommended. Inline skates and quads only. NO rollerskis, ski poles, skateboards, strollers, bandits, bikes, automobiles, headphones or pets. Skaters are encouraged to stay within coned area/lanes. For safety, skaters must have the skating ability and skills to complete the course. Race officials reserve the right to remove skaters from the course. A sag wagon will be provided for medical reasons. Skaters will be pulled off the course if a sag wagon is used.

Race Day Fun

Arrive early and get a great warm up in at the Dell Diamond parking lot. Grab some water, fruit and Clif bars and energize before the race.  Sign up in advance to get a massage after the race with Kylene, (512) 497-5920.

After the race, Texas Road Rash staff will retrieve your chip timer and then you can visit vendor booths and cheer in your friends. The awards ceremony begins once everyone completes their skate (approximately 11:30 am/noon), so if you finish early go ahead and sit in the picnic benches under the trees and enjoy some Texas barbecue sandwiches with all the fixin's. There will be Ziegenbach and Budweiser for those 21 and up (have your ID ready).

While you're in Round Rock, be sure to check out the Convention and Visitors Bureau website for local happenings and tourist attractions. Also consider visiting the Vineyard at Florence and Spa, one of our sponsors.
